Men are so simple & Women so complicated

At a college, a male & a female student were told to individually
write a sentence using the words 'sex' and 'love.'

The female wrote: When two mature people are passionately
and deeply in love with one another to a high degree and that they
respect each other very much, then, it is spiritually and morally
acceptable to the society that they both engage themselves in the act
of physical sex with one another.

The male wrote: 'I love sex.'

Life is like a Bank Account

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.

His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.

As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.

"I love it," he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.

"Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room, just wait." "That doesn't have anything to do with it," he replied. "Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged ... it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. " It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice. I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away just for this time in my life.

Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories! Thank you for your part in filling my Memory bank. I am still depositing!

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

and failures.
In resignation meeting they will speak only about your strengths, past

In appraisal you may need to cry and beg for even 10% hike.
In resignation you can easily demand (or get even without asking) more
than 50-60% hike.
During appraisal, they will deny promotion saying you didn't meet the
expectation, you don't have leadership qualities, and you had several

What will change under Kevin Rudd's Labor Govt?

I am dumb about Australian Politics, I didn't even know Kevin Rudd has become the Prime Minister of Australia until I read few blogs. OK, I asked a friend of mine, Teju who is a Political Science student researching at one of the Australian universities.

My question was "Now, Kevin Rudd has become PM and Labor Govt is back in Power. What it will mean for Australia and for Australians? What changes are on cards?"

Here's her elaborate reply.

"I do not think it should change much. Expect industrial reforms. Other than that u wont have much difference.

For instance, Taxes, Education, (with one difference HECS will NOT have to be paid by students when they are studying like USA), Health, Infrastructure, Transport all this will remain same with not much policy difference. Infact, the education fund which Peter Costello had introduced this budget is an innovative idea.

For policy on asylum seekers, immigration, Kevin Rudd's Govt will be tougher plus like the Democrats in US they would support Australian firms, Organizations rather than too much foreign companies (No mercy for Outsorcing). Since they believe in better in greater protectionism than republican or liberal governments in Australia. So it might not affect current international students like me as such but it will affect future students since the labor government might not have a very open door policy.

Experts say Labor Govt. will sign Kyoto protocol but, really it wont make difference since Kyoto has only aspirational targets for countries. If countries want to be serious on climate change then they must have justiciable or rather enforceable targets . Those targets are not present in any international framework nor is the labor policy clear on that. Labor has not specified whether they are interested in having green coal technology or introducing carbon tax. So, in summing up, not much change if you look st the detail of the policy though on the face of it, it seems labor will sign Kyoto.

On Iraq, they will withdraw the troops but anyway if u think of Australian;s contribution they are not playing a major role as main combat bridges like the US military but helping and facilitating local Iraqi police. Australian soldiers are based in the south of Iraq which is relatively quieter than Baghdad where the US military is fighting. The Australian military is helping in nation building work like training police, helping in infrastructure building.. even if they pull out it would not make such a strategic difference to the overall strategy of USA in Iraq. It sounds nice for Australian people to hear that they are not in Iraq. On the contrary, labor has said it would increase its military personnel in Afghanistan in the fight on terror so, this government will be as hawkish as the previous govt on war on terror."

How much do you agree/disagree? What changes do you think, that will happen under Labor Govt?

Update: Just got an update from the same friend on "What will be the future of Democracy in Australia?"

"One other thing is even tough we would not see any fundamental change in the direction of Australia's democracy. This election indicates the triumph of the democratic process and the increase in Green's vote which in turn helped the laobor party that it in many ways helps in bringing a diversity of views and voices at the national level. Since the unique way the Australian system is set up and to a great extent the difference between the federal politics and state politics, I think it was good to have a change at the federal level after eleven and half years of one government.

A point one must note in all this is that, all around the country this is only the second time in Australia's history that all the governments state and federal have been labor governments and it seems until the liberal party gets its act together especially in New SouthWales, they have very little chance of wining government there.

"The liberal party's future and relevance is at cross roads since, it has no strong state opposition leadership that can take up the challenge strongly at the state levels against state labour governments and it is also out of power at the federal level. The liberal party will have to go back to the drawing board and re-fashion itself and re-orient its vision in terms of following a more compassionate, conservative populist movement and appeal to Austrlia's middle class and Howard's battlers' who spectuarly deserted the coalition in this election because of IR reforms or work choices. On the one side, it is great to see a change of governmnet at the federal level but looking at the state of the liberal party in the states in Victoria, NSW, SA, it might be not necessarily be good for a healthy and robust democracy since a representation of one party views/ideoloy is always a determinet to the very basis of democratic political participation."

Are you stressed? Let us find out!

So, take the following test presented here and determine if you are losing it or are still "with it ." The spaces below are so you don't see the answers until you have made your answer.

OK, relax, clear your mind and ... Begin. WELL, MAYBE NOT THAT CLEAR!

1. What do you put in a toaster?

Answer: "bread." If you said "toast," then give up now and go do something else. Try not to hurt yourself. If you said, "bread," go to Question 2.

2. Say "silk" five times. Now spell " silk." What do cows drink?

Answer: Cows drink water. If you said "milk," please do not attempt the next question. Your brain is obviously over stressed and may even overheat.

It may be that you need to content yourself with reading something more appropriate such as Children's World. If you said "water"

Then proceed to question 3.

3. If a red house is made from red bricks and a blue house is made from blue bricks and a pink house is made from pink bricks and a black house is made from black bricks, what is a green house made from?

Answer: Greenhouses are made from glass. If you said "green bricks," what the devil are you still doing here reading these questions??? ?? If you said "glass,"

Then! Go on to Question 4.

4. Its twenty years ago, and a plane is flying at 20,000 feet over Germany(If you will recall, Germanyat the time was politically divided into West Germanyand East Germany.)

Anyway, during the flight, TWO of the engines fail. The pilot, realizing that the last remaining engine is also failing, decides on a crash landing procedure. Unfortunately the engine fails before he has time and the plane fatally crashes smack in the middle of "no man's land" between East Germanyand West Germany.

Where would you bury the survivors? East Germanyor West Germanyor in "no man's land"?

Answer: You don't, of course, bury survivors. If you said ANYTHING else,

You are a real dunce and you must NEVER try to rescue anyone from a plane crash. Your efforts would not be appreciated. If you said, "Don't bury the survivors",

Then proceed to the next question.

5. Without using a calculator - You are driving a bus from Londonto MilfordHaven in Wales. In London, 17 people get on the bus. In Reading, six people get off the bus and nine people get on.

In Sweden, two people get off and four get on. In Cardiff, 11 people get off and 16 people get on.

In Swansea, three people get off and five people get on In Carmarthen, six people get off and three get on. You then arrive at MilfordHaven. What was the name of the bus driver?

Answer: Oh, for crying out loud! Don't you remember your own name? It was YOU!!

(PS: 95% of people fail in most of the questions !!)

What You are Thankful For?

Photo of the Week:Sangu Poo

I have already told that the 'Point and Shoot' digital cameras are best to shoot Macro shots. Do you see a tiny flower icon on one of the camera buttons? Ues, if you activate that, you will get marvelous macro shots of objects.

To test my new camera (Samsung A40), I placed a violet flower on a tamil book and captured this photo. I deliberately had the "red somthing" (a cloth bin) on the background to emphasis the blurriness or bokeh.

This flower is called by Tamil local name "Sangu Poo" (Butterfly Pea in English - Botanical name Clitoria Ternatea) and the plant is a tendril climber. "Sangu" is a wind-based musical instrument, and the flower resembles the shape of "Sangu". "Poo" is the tamil word for flower.

I liked the way, the depth of focus worked out in the photo. An important advice, try to use natural light to shoot macro shots and rest the camera on a table or a hard surface to avoid motion blur.

Revathi and Myself

The following incidents happened in part of South India, where things and cultures are conservative. Sometime in 1993 during my tenth standard (Year 10), I was fresh from a city school, joining to a rural, village, and Government Middle school. I was feeling good, because, I know, since I received a better quality of education (City), I thought I will easily top the class! Out came the Quarterly exam results, guess my rank, Alas, SECOND!

A brilliant girl named Revathi, bagged the First Rank â€" for which I almost (well almost) cried. That was the last time I almost cried during my career life. OK, I started taking notice of this girl Revathi (without she could find out!). She was pretty and homely girl, very nice behaviour having lot of respect for teachers. At that time, I was concentrated on only two things: 1. Study well 2. Play well. As soon as the school gets over we will run to the ground for playing football, volley ball or cricket (in that same order, I lost interest in those, but playing fascinates me even now!).

At those times, I wanted to beat her in education and snatch the first rank, at any cost. And I am not a vigorous reader at home also, I used to listen in the classrooms, do my homework (also in class), and come home sleep. Even my parents have not seen me studying at home â€" even on the day before exam. I knew there is only one way, I can overtake her. It is ENGLISH. The subject which was tough for most of my rural friends was a cakewalk for me, as I studied in Matriculation School where English is the medium of teaching. I studied only up to 3rd standard in the City Matriculation schools.

I need not tell the remaining sucecss story, with good scores in English, I snatched the First Rank. From then on, I retained the first rank forever. At those ages itself, my friends have expressed their love to her got a slap or two, or warnings from her Father. I had no guts to even speak to her - forget about expressing love.

Now, sometime in the recent years, when I went to my native village in South India recently (six months ago), I met one of my friends. While talking about the past days, he asked me, "Do u remember Revathi". I told, "Yes’. He told she is married 2 year before and got two children now. He also told, in those times, my friends thought that Revathi and myself would make a good pair. It was a fantasy it seems, for my friends. Just I thought back, was I in love with her? Was she the childhood sweetheart of my life? No way, liking a girl or boy in schools not necessarily means love, marriage etc etc, right?

Quick Dirty Joke

A man kills a 'deer' and takes it home to cook for dinner.

Both he and his wife decide that they won't tell the kids what kind of meat it is, but will give them a clue and let them guess.

The kids were eager to know what the meat was on their plates, so begged their dad for the clue.

'Well' the father said, 'It's what mummy calls me sometimes.'

'The little girl screams, 'Don't eat it.... it's a fuckin arsehole'

Fun:Never go to HR for Help

After 2 years of selfless service, a man realized that he has not been promoted, no transfer, no salary increase no commendation and that the Company is not doing any thing about it. So he decided to walk up to His HR Manager one morning and after exchanging greetings, he told his HR Manager his observation. The boss looked at him, laughed and asked him to sit down saying. My friend, you have not worked here for even one day.

The man was surprised to hear this, but the manager went on to explain.

Manager:- How many days are there in a year?
Man:- 365 days and some times 366

Manager:- how many hours make up a day?
Man:- 24 hours

Manager:- How long do you work in a day?
Man:- 8am to 4pm. i.e. 8 hours a day.

Manager:- So, what fraction of the day do you work in hours?
Man:- (He did some arithmetic and said 8/24 hours i.e. 1/3(one third)

Manager:- That is nice of you! What is one-third of 366 days?
Man:- 122 (1/3x366 = 122 in days)

Manager:- Do you come to work on weekends?
Man:- No sir

Manager:- How many days are there in a year that are weekends?
Man:- 52 Saturdays and 52 Sundays equals to 104 days

Manager:- Thanks for that. If you remove 104 days from 122 days, how many days do you now have?
Man:- 18 days.

Manager:- OK! I do give you 2 weeks sick leave every year. Now remove that14 days from the 18 days left. How many days do you have remaining?
Man:- 4 days

Manager:- Do you work on New Year day?
Man:- No sir!

Manager:- Do you come to work on workers day?
Man:- No sir!

Manager:- So how many days are left?
Man:- 2 days sir!

Manager:- Do you come to work on the (National holiday )?
Man:- No sir!

Manager:- So how many days are left?
Man:- 1 day sir!

Manager:- Do you work on Christmas day?
Man:- No sir!

Manager:- So how many days are left?
Man:- None sir!

Manager:- So, what are you claiming?
Man:- I have understood, Sir. I did not realise that I was stealing Company money all these days.

Have a Nice Day.

Do you believe in Ghosts?

That's the exact question I had asked when we were discussing something late night in our hostel rooms. At the University, we had single rooms, but, we used to gather around at the common hall or one of a friend's room to discuss gossips. What happens around the campus, boys and girls, everything under the sun and moon would be discussed till midnight.

In one of the midnights, I asked this question to all of my friends, 'Do you believe in Ghosts?'. Most of them had their stories. Starting with a 'I have not seen personally', but, 'a friend of mine' or 'a relative of mine' or 'a second cousin', they will tell ghost stories. Ghost stories will span for the next 3 or 4 hours. Many of us would fear to go back to our rooms and sleep in one room recounting all the ghost stories and movies we watched.

During a study holiday, when the entire campus was shutdown, students used to go to different places in the campus and study without any disturbances. A few students had gone to an old building to discuss and study. When it reached midnight, exactly at 12 am, there were few distinct voices begin to appear behind the closed doors. All the group went speechless, breathless and could not say anything to each other. The voices are not illusion as all the four of them could clearly hear them. After few minutes, they were at the hostel telling this story to everyone of us. It was around 1 am, and around 50 of us threw our books and began marching towards the old building, very carefully listening if any sound comes from the building. Nothing happened. We returned disappointedly.

Next day night, we were gathered around the old building at 9pm, sat silently - waiting for the clock to strike 12am. Hours gone, minutes gone and at exactly 12:00am, the voices. Now, this time - not 4 or 5 students, but all of us could hear the voices clearly. We could not decipher what the voices conveyed, or which language. But, we were froze to death for that few moments.Few of us went around the building and checked every inch for any human signs. Nope. Then, we started running, screaming to tell the stories to the non-believers at the hostel. On the daytime, we enquired the watchman, security guards - they promised no one has ever lived there for few years. After few days, we stopped going to the old building and stopped using that road.

The story of ghost voices began to fade as we got busy with our exams.

A parting note - Now, if you want to experience the thrill of seeing ghosts, I can not take you to a Old building or a castle, but I can recommend few good movies. I have watched some good scary, ghost movies and these 10 movies gave me a real thrill.I must tell you when yo watch Japanese horror movies, the Hollywood equivalents will look like childish comedies.

1) Ringu (Japanese)

2) Ju-on: The Grudge (Japanese) and Ju-On 2

3) Rinne (Japanese)

4) The Omen (1978)

5) The Exorcist (1973)

6) The Evil Dead (1982)

7) The Sixth Sense

8) Don't Look Now (1983)

9) Psycho (1960)

10) Night of the Living Dead (1968)

Don't mistake me. I was not even born when some of these old movies were released. But, I guess the hollywood film makers have forgotten how to scare people.

I am your friend

I can't give solutions to all of life's problems,
doubts, or fears.
But I can listen to you, and together we can seek

I can't change your past with all it's heartache and
pain, nor the future with it's untold stories.
But I can be there now when you need me to care.

I can't keep your feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not

Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happinesses are
not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter and joy.

Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to
I can only support you, encourage you, and help you
when you ask.

I can't give you boundaries which I have determined
for you,
But I can give you the room to change, room to grow,
room to be yourself.

I can't keep your heart from breaking and hurting,
But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces
and put them back in place.

I can't tell you who you are.
I can only love you and be your friend.

Life is No Straight

“Life is no straight and every corridor along
which we travel isn’t free and unhampered,
but is a maze of passages,
through which we must seek our way,
lost and confused, now and again
checked in a blind alley.

But always, if we have faith,
God will open a door for us,
Not perhaps one that we ourselves
would ever have thought of,
But one that will ultimately
prove good for us.”

Photo of the Week: Do you have a fire inside?

Concept photos are really easy to shoot. But, the difficult part is to find a story. Remember, the more attractive your story is, the more people will appreciate your photo.

I normally shoot a photo and try to construct a story after it. Sometimes, I start with a story to construct a photo to achieve it.

This is a normal photo and I sat hard and constructed a story after I shot it. The matchsticks were conveying a good message and after few close-up shots of burning match-sticks, I tried arranging them in a semi-circle.

One of the match-stick fell in a wrong place and gave an inspiration to this photo.

Leading by Inspiration (by Thiru Murugan)

Why would people obey your words?

Why will they listen to you?

Why should people work for you?

If you inspire them and lead them by example, they will follow you until death. That's the power of 'inspiring leadership'.

The one that was preached and practised by Gandhi, is a nice example.

I was recently asked, "What would you say is the one real key to finding and keeping people?"

After thinking for a moment, I said, "Leadership."

The reason is that an inspirational leader in any field - business, sport, politics - draws in great people to work with them through their own magnetism.

Joke:Difference between Anger and Exasperation

Little Ernie was having a problem with his homework.

"Dad," he asked, "What is the difference between 'anger' and 'exasperation'?"

"Well, son," said his father, "I"ll give you a practical demonstration."

His father picked up the phone and dialled a number.

"Hello," said a voice at the other end.

"Hello," said Ernie"s father. "Is Melvin there?"

"There is no one called Melvin here!" the voice replied. "Why don"t you look
up numbers before you dial them?"

"You see?" said Ernie"s father. "That man was not at all happy with our call.
But watch this!"

He then dialled the number again, and says, "Hello, is Melvin there?"

"Now look here!" the voice said angrily. "I told you there is no Melvin here!
You have got a lot of nerve calling again!"

"Did you hear that?" Ernie"s father asked. "That was 'anger'. Now, I will show
you what 'exasperation' is!"

He dialled once again. And on hearing the voice at the other end, Ernie"s
father said: "Hello! This is Melvin. Have there been any calls for me?"

Different Types of Government

Anarchy is a situation where there is no government.
This can happen after a civil war in a country, when a government has been destroyed and rival groups are fighting to take its place.
Anarchists are people who believe that government is a bad thing. They say it stops people organising their own lives.

In a capitalist or free-market country, people can own their own businesses and property.
People can also buy services for private use, such as healthcare.
But most capitalist governments also provide their own education, health and welfare services.

In a communist country, the government owns things like businesses and farms.
It provides its people's healthcare, education and welfare.

In a democracy, the government is elected by the people.
Everyone who is eligible to vote has a chance to have their say over who runs the country.

This is a country ruled by a single leader.
The leader has not been elected and may use force to keep control.
In a military dictatorship, the army is in control.

Federal government
In this type of system, a central government shares power with a number of small local governments.
The USA is a type of this, called a federal republic.

A monarchy has a king or queen.
In some traditional monarchies, the monarch has absolute power.
But a constitutional monarchy, like the UK, also has a democratic government that limits the monarch's control.

Regional or local
This is a government or council that controls a smaller area within a country.
Some local governments have very limited powers and are mainly controlled by the central government.
Others are powerful enough to make their own laws, like individual states in the USA.

A republic is a country that has no monarch.
The head of the country is usually an elected president.

In a Democracy, the people meet and exercise the government in person;
in a Republic they assemble and administer it by their representatives and agents.
A Democracy consequently will be confined to a small spot.
A Republic may be extended over a large region

Revolutionary government
If a government is overthrown by force, the new ruling group is sometimes called a revolutionary government.

Totalitarian state
This is a country with only one political party.
People are forced to do what the government tells them and may also be prevented from leaving the country.

A country that is changing from one type of government to another has a transitional government.
For example, a dictatorship may turn into a democracy after the dictator dies.
The change between governments can take several years.
